Yes HOAs do add value. The houses next to my complex do not have a HOA and they sell for about 30% less per square foot. The home there look rundown from the outside, with faded paint and overgrown landscaping. The news stories wer read about HOAs always seem to highlight the most extreme situations, the root of which are almost always a resident's failure to follow the CC&Rs. The last one I remember was a person that built a shade structure that was too tall. He admitted that he never checked the CC&Rs before he built the thing. How is that the HOA's fault?

HOA are tyrants. They think they own your house and the owner is just a holds a lease.

They need to have a vote to keep them in operation each year. The homeowners need to have to vote every year on the rules and 95% for any rule to be passed,of all property owners. All rules each year.

HOA worry about collecting fines and colors of paint on a house, instead of critical issues. Does one need an organization just to collect fines and to tell every one to have the same paint color on your house.

My God, these people would make great communists.

They want every house to have the same color but do not want their kids to wear uniforms at school. No freedom of expression.

Every existing homeowner in current association should have a choice each year to be a member or want to be binding by their childish rule.

We need more laws to protect the homeowners from these communists!

You leave your civil rights at their gate when you enter onto the property with a HOA on it.

You just thought you were in America. Not when you have an HOA running your life.
