The number of foreclosure filings in Arizona shot up 150 percent last year with 1.5 percent of Arizona households in some stage of foreclosure, a new study shows.
A total of 69,970 filings — including default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions — were reported in 2007 on 38,568 properties, according to national firm RealtyTrac, which tracks foreclosures. Arizona’s foreclosure rate is the eighth highest in the nation with Nevada holding the No. 1 spot.
The rest of the top 10 include Florida, Michigan, California, Colorado, Ohio, Georgia, Illinois and Indiana.
